There are two (2) categories for this year’s competition - TOTALLY ACTIVE and WILDLY CREATIVE
This category involves making a 1-2 minute video on the environment. It could be about this amazing teacher of yours in school, or your school’s eco music group, or the uncle who recycles the entire community’s solid waste weekly, or even about a bunch of friends who are making a green difference in their university. In fact, it could even be an advertisement, music video and so forth. Either way, if you have an amazing idea for a film/video with a green message, we want you to shoot it.
Send us a 1-2 page proposal detailing the story/script and sharing with us how you envision this video will look like. Simple as that. First you would have to read and agree to the Competition Guidelines. If you are keen on participating, you can send your participation form and proposal here.
Ten (10) shortlisted proposals will be selected and the finalists (owners of the proposals) will have to enter a video making workshop conducted by Lara Ariffin, a renowned local film maker. Upon completion of the workshop, the competition then begins.
During the competition period, all the finalists are required to have two(2) 1-hour one-on-one review session with Lara and to maintain an online blog on the official Anugerah Hijau 2011 website. This helps the panel of judges keep track of your real-time progress.
The culmination of this creativity will be a judging session held in October 2011 when the fvideos will be screened at the Eco Film Fest 2011 in front of a high profile judging panel. The winning group/individual will win RM3000, gift hampers, a trophy and a certificate.
The fashion industry is the third biggest industry in the world and come on, no one would not be seen wearing and/or parading in the latest fashion design and brand. The world of fashion may be stylish, glamorous and exciting, but its impact on the environment is worsening day by day. From an environmental point of view, the clothes we wear and the textiles they are made from are causing a great deal of damage.
This category involves designing/creating a fashionable outfit from everyday recycled items – just about anything that is NOT NEW. This category provides the participants with the chance to design and create costumes out of recycled, inorganic and organic materials in to wearable art and avant-garde fashion. It's an opportunity to make something wonderful from those things that are left over, and usually thrown away.
Whether it’s an evening gown made from recycled PET bottles, or an office suit made from recycled dark denim jeans and aluminium accessories or a skirt made from milk cartons, we want you to let your hair down and go crazy with creative ideas.
Ten (10) shortlisted proposals will be selected and the finalists (owners of the proposals) will have to enter a practical fashion designing workshop conducted by internationally renowned Malaysian fashion designer, Silas Liew. Upon completion of the workshop, the competition officially starts.
